Cover Story: Cee Lo Green

The 2007 album by Band of Horses - "Cease to Begin" had, on it,  one of the most glorious singles I've heard in my (fairly short) life.The melody is gorgeous and almost painfully so. Easily one of my top 10 favourite tunes.

Naturally I balked a little when I found out that Cee Lo Green had covered it (I got that same feeling when that muppet Jason Derulo butchered Imogen Heap's "Hide & Seek")

But thankfully he didn't screw it up, not even close. He keeps the integrity of the longing throughout but replaces the almost tinny guitar with a genius synth and bass line. Listen out for the typical dance beat underneath it all. Shouldn't make sense but totally does. Nicely done. We can be friends.
